SurplusMeter →
If you have a broadband internet service with a monthly download limit, you may find SurplusMeter comes in handy. It measures the download and upload traffic on your Internet connection and keeps a record of your traffic volume. It gives you all kinds of useful output statistics, like daily allowance, average daily usage, accumulated surplus, and more.
Oh Palm, what happened? →
This is god-awful. Absolutely awful. While my Treo 650 had some major usability issues, it was at least a solid attempt.

Great that they are blogging, and even better that they are using ExpressionEngine. But why did they set their blog posts in “entires?” What is an entire? (check the url)

Possible Gmail UI Update? →
It would be nice to see some of the Google Docs UI swing into the email client, but not too much. I like me some tags, not folders.

Tim’s talk about Rowen’s struggle is great. Her rise to meet a major challenge, and his heartfelt pride in her doing so well brought a tear to my eye. I’m a sap for friends and father-child stories!

If you’re looking for me, I’ve gone undercover.
I remember when albums were cool. When the hot song was the impetus to buy, but NOT the best part of the album. When you had to wait, wait for the next song, wait for the next anything.

I like this site a lot, and I’m open to the fact that Trent may not understand the feelings this brings up in us designers. If you’re a designer, don’t send in for these things though. There are better ways, both Trent and the designers could benefit from this whole deal.
Somebody smarter than me get on this quick. I’d like the Mac Desktop to act as a smart folder, displaying files and folders based on criteria I set. So when I use colors as statuses for files, I’ll see them on my Desktop. Sort of like alias’, or maybe they should be alias’.

Mint | Refreshing Money Management →
I’ve been using Mint during the closed beta, and it’s really fantastic. It does a great job at pulling in your data and showing you how things look in the big picture. It also has some neat reminders and notifications that I think could come in very handy. Check it out!
Finally decided to put some use into the recently updated Backpack from 37 Signals. It’s really sweet once you upgrade to the mid or top level plans. Really liking this a lot. And with the ability to email out pages, I don’t feel as trapped.
Why do I always misspell download as “downlaod”?
Functionality
It occurred to me in the shower this morning how much this word means to me. It makes up almost all my thoughts on things, in one way or another. I critique things based on how functional they are. I drive a Scion xB, because of it’s functionality. I see couches and chairs, and wonder about all the unused space underneath. My clothing, my hardware, my software, almost all things in my life...
